How to access ENVISAT data

http://earth.esrin.esa.it/pub/ESA_DOC/ENVISAT/ENVI87a.pdf

MERIS Rolling Archive

The multi-mission On-line Archive (Rolling Archive) consists of servers available at the the three ESA Envisat acquisition stations of Kiruna (PDHS-K), ESRIN (PDHS-E) and Matera (PDAS-M). It contains, for the Envisat mission, various directories holding the ASAR and MERIS products generated systematically following the acquisition (nominally within 3 hours) and also the newest ASAR HR and MERIS FR products generated on request.

Access to the ENVISAT Rolling Archive shall be specifically requested in the Category-1 proposal with a justification of the NRT need. However, for an already existing project, the access to the Rolling Archive for retrieval of ENVISAT NRT data shall be requested to the EOHelp. The request shall include the project ID and the communication in which the need for access to Near Real Time data as well as the quantity and exact product type in question are clearly specified and justified. The request will then be passed on to the Mission Management for evaluation. Alternatively, the user has to submit a new Category-1 proposal through the ESA Earth Observation Principal Investigator Portal at http://eopi.esa.int.

Envisat Web File Server (EWFS)

When the user has a specific area of interest, ESA advises the use of the EWFS instead of the Rolling Archive to access the same product archives of Kiruna, ESRIN and Matera, from one single http address.
In contrast to the full segments provided on the Rolling Archive, the EWFS allows users to download a subset covering only a selected geographic region.

EOLI Web

The new EOLI Web Client provides access to ESA catalogues of EO products via a standard web browser, as well as to the catalogues of other data providers (for example DLR and NASA ECHO) and is part of ESA's eoPortal. This tool doesn't allow online ordering (for which we recommend to use EOLI-SA), but it allows you to browse the meta data and obtain further information about the collections and products available from ESA and other providers.

EOLI-SA

The EOLI-SA (Stand Alone) client combines the advantages of both the online and offline catalogues. This tool provides access to the online ESA catalogues of Earth Observation (EO) products. It allows the visualisation of quick-looks and the online ordering of EO products. A copy of the inventory can be downloaded locally to increase response times and to perform interferometric searches on Envisat and ERS SAR products. The tool gives access to all collections for which ESA provides products. EOLI-SA is a java application supported on all major patforms (Windows 95/98/ME/2000/NT/XP, Linux, Solaris, Mac OS X and other Unix systems).

MERCI

MERCI is a web-based application that provides access to the complete MERIS Reduced Resolution reprocessed dataset (from mid-2002 to March 2007).
It allows the selection of a geographical area, he visualisation of the list of available productsand the Quick-Looks and the download of one or more (up to 10) files corresponding to the time and area of interest. The tool is going to be upgraded to allow download of larger volumes of data.
